"Truly Thankful" Project Day 20: Enslaved to Convenience

In high school, I remember how I couldn't wait until I would start driving. I had no patience, so I took my license test as soon as I turned 16.

It was as if I were running after freedom and nothing could stop me. I was running after the liberty of having my own car and being able to go wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I hated relying on others to give me rides.

And as I was driving today a thought came to my headam I really free?

Not quite. Rather, I am enslaved to my car just as the rest of us in LA. I am enslaved to my phone, social media, and the "norms" of society. I am enslaved to convenience.

I don't really know what I'm thankful for in this case, but maybe it's the fact that there is a convenience.
