It Never Happened

The silent walls collapsing as we speak
Dissolving into the ground, so hollow, so meek.

So meek is your presence in this room
I watch you stand, waiting for fire to fume.
Effortlessly, you sing a song of flowers;
Such a beautiful melody.
Shamelessly, standing in your corner, you prowl.

I mustn’t speak.
I must turn the other cheek.

Danger is your obsession; Vulnerability your objective.
Never a threat and never a misconception in your logic,
You are perfection.

As you speak, I am stunned.
Your verse is unique,
An art form so tragic, I want to run—throw myself into the crumpling barrier
“There is no refund.
It only gets heavier,”
I hear someone speak.

I must turn the other cheek.
I mustn’t speak.
I must turn the other cheek.

The walls are neatly folding into another dimension.

We carry on.
