My First Time Visiting New York

When I started working a year ago, one of my goals was to visit New York within a year. Last week was my 1 year anniversary at my job, and I fulfilled my goal!!
It was my first time in NYC and experiencing the East Coast.

The minute I got there I felt as though I'd been there before. I don't know what it was, maybe I was reminded of the times I'd seen New York depicted on film or read about it in a book, but the city felt so familiar to me. Throughout my visit, though, there were times when I had to remind myself that I was still in the U.S.  (true story) because it felt so foreign! So strange, but I loved this paradox.

My sister and I spent our first night at Buddakan, a gorgeous restaurant in the Chelsea district that was featured in Sex and the City.

I got to visit the Yelp office in NYC - loved it, definitely a 5-star office. ;)
If you know me you won't be surprised when I tell you that most of my time consisted of FOODIE ADVENTURES.
Mainly bagels, ice cream, and pizza! ;)

I did do some touristy stuff too...

I was in tears when I saw The Statue of Liberty in real life as I was reminded of what She stands for - freedom and opportunity.

Visited the Rockefeller Center and got to experience a beautiful view of the city!

Also spent some time in nature...

The highlight of my trip (I had to pick two...) -

(1) biking along Central Park (which, by the way, I kept calling Golden Gate Park! LOL - California girl at heart):

(2) spending hours walking in SoHo and West Village....and seeing street art everywhere!

Had to share this one! I could definitely relate. The more places I visit, the more I feel like I've barely seen anything. At the same time, I feel more enlightened, inspired, and enriched after I visit a new place (even if it's a new place in my own city) than I did before! I encourage you all reading this to GO TRAVEL! Whether it's across the country or across the street. Take a walk, look around, observe, think, and leave inspired.

Thanks for stopping by!
